Artidies de Sousa Mendes
Born in Cabanas de Viriato on 19 th jully on 1885 and graduated in Law at the Univestsity of Coimbra, following the diplomatic carrer.
During the second world war Aristides decided to issue visas for jews from Russia, Poland and other countries, who were persecuted by the Nazi regime. With those visas, they escaped to other countries and started a new lifw free from the Nazis and from the possibility of diyng at their hands.
